In the steelmaking furnace process, the transportation and classification of blast furnace slag from sintering plants is a critical operation. However, when handling fine particles as small as approximately 9 microns, the high-speed rotating classifier rotor suffers from severe erosion wear, significantly shortening equipment life and driving up maintenance costs.
Recently, our company received an urgent request from a powder equipment customer. Their classifier rotor, measuring 1100mm in diameter and 550mm in height, had been processing micron-sized slag particles for an extended period. The severe material erosion caused frequent wear issues, disrupting production continuity and compromising product quality.
In response to these challenging operating conditions, our sales and technical teams engaged in detailed discussions with the customer to fully understand the rotor's structural characteristics, operating parameters, and wear problem. Drawing on our years of experience in wear-resistant protection, we recommended an innovative solution instead of traditional hardfacing or conventional coatings: precision-machined grooved ARZ ceramic lining – providing professional wear protection for the blast furnace classifier rotor.
ARZ ceramics linings combined the toughness of zirconia with the hardness of alumina, offering exceptional wear resistance and impact strength. Through precision machining, the ceramic lining perfectly conform to the complex curved surfaces of the classifier rotor, achieving seamless coverage protection. The grooved design further enhances the bonding strength between the ceramic linings and the rotor substrate, effectively preventing detachment. Once installed, the smooth surface of the ceramic linings significantly reduces material flow resistance while completely isolating the rotor base material from direct slag erosion.
With this solution, the customer's wear problems were fundamentally resolved. The rotor's service life was significantly extended, and production line stability was greatly improved.
